There is an instance, in the Gospel of John, where one time followers of Christ, are now beginning to leave him. Perhaps they feared for their lives, or at least, Roman persecution. Whatever the reason, so many were leaving, Jesus turned to his disciples and asked them, 'Will you also go away?' I felt inspired by this question, and so I wrote the following poem, I hope you like it. The title is simply, Will You Also Go Away?
They had watched, as he fed the thousands. They had seen him heal the blind His touch healed the broken bodies. His words, renewed their mind. Now, they all were leaving. This, caused the Lord, to turn to his disciples and say, Will you be like the others? Will you also go away? Will you go away from me? Will you go back to the world, from which you came? Or , will you stay, and rather seek, to glorify my name. Lord, let this be my answer, in my life today, that while others may be leaving you, I would choose to stay. This choice is yours to make my friend, now, what will you say? Will you be like so many others? Will you also, go away?
I hope you enjoyed this poem. I think it poses the only question that truly matters, in the lives of those who would call themselves followers of Christ. As always, my friends, these thoughts remain, just some words, to think on.
