I visited some friends yesterday. They live way out in the country. I couldn't help but notice how dry the ground looked and many of the cornfields had corn that was no where near where it should be as far as how high it should be this late in July. When I arrived at my friends house he said that where he lives the total amount of rain that had fallen was only about a half an inch since the end of April and as as a result corn in many places could reach nine to ten dollars a bushel and meat prices would soon rise be cause of this.
Where I live and all across this nation the heat has been unbearable wild fires are in Colorado. Floods are in Florida, gas prices are beginning to creep back up and I have even noticed things like bread milk eggs and meat butter and many other things are getting harder to buy at the grocery store. As I thought about how tough things are in America right now, I thought to my self is this the beginning of the end of America? I believe the answer may be yes. I hate to say this but I believe Romans 1:28-31 describes much of American culture today it reads as follows:"And even as they did not like to retain God, in their knowledge, God, gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient."Being filled with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetous, maliciousness full of envy, murder, deceit, malignity, whisperers, and backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boaster, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful, who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things, are worthy of death not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
America, has reached a point where God is given credit for nothing. Think about this, when America stops a terrorist plot or a scientist makes a new discovery you don't hear our political leaders giving God the credit. America, , seems to rest and rely on her own military might or scientific achievements or advancements in technology. A politician may say God, bless America, at the end of a speech but that phase as become something said in polite political rhetoric God hasn't been acknowledged in a meaningful way for some time now. Many churches don't preach the gospel of God or Gods love for sinners but his hatred for sin. America in large part in fact, sin these days is not only tolerated but often glorified in the name of social tolerance. Consider Obama's recent acceptance of gay marriage as an example.
As I see it if America is ever to be truly, blessed by God again America, is going to have to experience a serious spiritual awakening. I am afraid however, as it stands now I don't see enough committed Christians in America today willing to make the spiritual commitment and personal sacrifice it would take before God could even begin to heal America. The next election could serve as a start but heart felt repentance and a true return to God's principals in our churches in our government and in our individual daily lives as Christians is what it will take for America, as a nation, to once again retain God in her knowledge. The Question is will America ever be willing to repent and turn back to God ? All anyone can do is pray and wait. As always my friends, these thoughts remain, just, some words, to think on.
